POTTS, George Washington –  I am searching for George Washington Potts b. abt. 1865 in TN m. Florence Bruce b. abt. 1877.   They were married in TN also.  They are in all the census in TN.   1920-1880.  I have a picture of what I was told where they are buried.  I believe differently.  I was told he died in AL and they brought him back for burial, problem … The funeral home has no records of this, and nothing confirms he is actually there.  After more research, I was told he (George) died in AL.  They said Birmingham.  The only other place I know he visited would have been Sheffield, Colbert, AL.  Tonight I found a George W Potts buried in Jackson County, AL a Sgt. without any dates etc. I would love to find more info on this Potts I found tonight.   Curious if it is “My” Potts.  They had 13 children, and by the time of his death, many of them have moved many times.  Mostly in TN some around Sheffield, AL and that is what makes me think he is there.  I have looked many times in the SSDI and have not found one that I thought might be him.  So I guess the next step is to view newspapers, since I have no books.  Do you know where I can begin???  Please contact me at DigMyRoots@aol.com.   [posted February 14, 2000]
