ADKINS, Mary Ann – Need to confirm that parents of Perlimner Winfield STRATTON were Henry STRATTON, b. about 1823 in SC, and Mary Ann ADKINS (or ATKINS), b. about 1830 in MS. Census records show them in Sanford (now Lamar) County AL in 1860. In 1870 census, Perlimner Winfield STRATTON and his older brother, Henry (Jr.), were living with Charles and Martha COLEMAN near Big Pond. Henry (Sr.) is thought to be the person who was a 3rd Sergeant in Co K of the 26th Alabama Infantry. Birthplace of this Henry is suspected to be either Sumter Co or Richland Co in SC. No records have been found re. marriage of Henry and Mary Ann. Possible that the marriage was recorded in Fayette Co AL, and records lost when courthouse burned. Any information on the above marriage and/or on the parents of Mary Ann would be greatly appreciated. Contact Bill Polk at [email protected] [posted August 19, 1999]
