HALL, Ben – Searching for info on Ben HALL, killed by strikers in Birmingham AL in 1919. He was a guard at a nearby mine & was shot as he sat in his office. According to a Talbot Co, Ga newspaper he was brought home & buried in Talbot Co Ga. His wife was Mamie (Mary) Kellum Hall. I believe he was 38 when he died & may have had 2 sons. HALL, Pinkney – I am looking for any information I can get on a Pinkney Hall. He married Nancy Mackie in Jefferson County and his children were Addie, Lula, Seaborn and Alto. I think his fathers name was Abraham Hall but I am not sure. I have heard stories that Pinkney’s mother was a Cherokee Indian and that his father traded 2 horses for her. I cannot verify this though. HANCOCK, James R. – James R. Hancock was born in SC ABT. 1797. He died in Jefferson County Five Mile Beat, District 31 September 12, 1854. Cause of Death was a Rattle Snake Bite while out hunting. (Death Notice from The Jones Valley Times – August 12, 1854 “We regret to learn that Mr. James R. Hancock , formerly of this county removed to Walker, while out hunting a few days ago, and just after shooting a deer, was bitten on the leg by a rattlesnake and died shortly afterwards.) He is buried in the old Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery which is now part of Shanghai Cemetery, Jefferson County, Alabama. His wife’s name was Maja (surname unknown). They had 5 off spring that I am aware of. Hardy Harry Hancock, born 1817 SC died April 14, 1871 (April 20, 1871 The Sun Hardy HANCOCK, for many years a citizen of our county, died at the residence of Alfred JOHNSON, near this place, on Friday, 14th instant. Mr. HANCOCK had visited our own business, and was on his way home, when he was taken suddenly ill. He was assisted to his bed, and was thought to be quietly resting after his fatigue, and when a member of the family visited him, and endeavored to arouse him, he was found to be dead..

In the household was his brother, John T.HARPER, who also worked atthe Iron Ore Mines. Joe and wife Daisy (maiden name unk) had four girls at the time of the 1930 census: Edna E.
