OVATT, John – Hello, My name is Jeniffer Ovatt, I live in Merced, Ca. My grandfather’s family came from Jefferson County, Alabama. I have had trouble finding family info. Our last name is Ovatt, but I have a feeling it was changed. John (Ovatt may not have been right last name, but he went by Ovatt.) was born in Austria, Oct 25, 1872, and married Mary Ovatt? born Jan of 1874 in Austria. They had thier first child, Mike Between 1900 and 1905. We don’t know if he was born somewhere else, or in Jefferson County Alabama. On Jan 17, 1906 Annie was born in Warrior, Alabama. In Jan 07, 1909 they had George Edward Ovatt, who is my great grandfather, in Warrior, Alabama. After that they had Mary Ovatt, and Susie Ovatt. All from Warrior, Alabama. I can’t find any records, besides a few death records. John Ovatt died Jan 17, 1936 in Warrior Alabama, and was Buried in Brookside Alabama, at St. Micheals?? and his wife, Mary, died March 14, 1940 in Warrior and was buried at Brookside in St. Micheals?? I know that John’s death record says John Ovath. but that wasn’t their last name. I can’t find any census records, or anything, I do know, that George Andrew Married Annie Stover, after my great grandmother and him split up. I know that the address John and Mary lived at was RX2 Rural Warrior, Jefferson County Alabama. I don’t quite understand the writing on the death certificate, but I know they came to the U.S between 1900 and 1906, and settled in Warrior, Alabama. PLEASE HELP ME find some info on my family…. Thanks so much.. Please contact me at JLOCali@aol.com or visit my web page at http://hometown.aol.com/jlocali/MyHomepage.html. [posted December 22, 2003]
